Full Moon Ritual Guide with Journal Prompts and Prayer

Your full moon ritual guide with journal prompts and prayer to harness the power of the abundant and healing full moon.

Dear Spirited Earthling,

Each full moon is the closing of a cycle. As the brightest phase of the moon, this abundance of light invites you to celebrate where you are, honour how far you’ve come, and be in gratitude for it all. Just as the seasons call for different actions, the moon cycles encourage unique practices that align with its energy.

Understanding Full Moon Energy

During the full moon, sunlight fully illuminates the moon, making it the brightest and most powerful phases of the lunar cycle. This light symbolises clarity, abundance, and self-realisation, encouraging you to step into your fullest self and recognise your accomplishments. Since the new moon, you’ve been consciously and unconsciously working with the Universe to manifest your intentions.

The full moon is your greatest supporter, shining light on areas of your life that need attention and change. While working toward your dreams, you may face challenges that require releasing what no longer serves you. The full moon energy is there to support you in this, wanting what’s best for you. This is a time for transformation - letting go of anything misaligned with your highest good.

Building your dream life means your life is under construction. The full moon marks the midpoint of the lunar cycle, and full moon energy reminds you to see the full story: not just what’s left to do, but also how far you’ve already come. It is at this point that you need to honour your growth, lessons, and achievements.

You may be feeling a lot of emotions during this time. Embrace your full self by celebrating your progress so that you can realign your actions with your intention.

“When we least expect it, life sets us a challenge to test our courage and willingness to change; at such a moment, there is no point in pretending that nothing has happened or in saying that we are not yet ready. The challenge will not wait. Life does not look back. A week is more than enough time for us to decide whether or not to accept our destiny.” ~ Paulo Coelho

Full Moon Journal Prompts

Journaling is a sacred practice for self-reflection and growth. Whether you keep a dedicated moon journal or use your daily journal, these prompts will guide you through the full moon’s energy:

  • Am I nearer to my intention than I was when this moon cycle started?

  • What about my life lately am I grateful for?

  • Are my goals still aligned for me?

  • What have I learned from challenges lately?

  • What areas of life are not aligning with the person I want to become?

  • What miracles have shown in my life this moon cycle?

  • If I am not where I want to be, how am I exactly where I am meant to be now?

  • What can I do more of / less of to help manifest my dreams?

Write freely and without judgement. This could be a love letter to yourself and the Universe. As you journal, embrace the celebratory energy of the full moon. Acknowledge the miracles, lessons, and progress with gratitude. Realign with your intentions and channel the moon’s abundant energy into inspired action.

“When we strive to become better than we are, everything around us becomes better too.” ~ Paulo Coelho

Think about actionable steps that you can take to work with the Universe in creating your dream life. Ask for support and guidance and have faith that everything works out for you, with harm to no being.

“When you find your path, you must not be afraid. You need to have sufficient courage to make mistakes. Disappointment, defeat, and despair are the tools God uses to show us the way.” ~ Paulo Coelho

Full Moon Ritual and Prayer

Rituals during the full moon offer an opportunity to reconnect with your intentions and release what no longer serves you. Your full moon ritual can be practised on the days leading up to, the day of, and the days following the full moon. Here’s a simple full moon ritual and prayer to get you started:

  1. Set Your Intention: Decide what you want to focus on during your ritual. Take three deep breaths to centre yourself.

  2. Create a Sacred Space: Welcome the energies of the elements and the Universe. Say this full moon prayer and ask for blessings and support in manifesting your intentions.

  3. Write and Release: Write down what you want to let go of and heal from on a piece of paper. Reflect on your words and take three deep breaths. Hold your earth element item, imagining grounding yourself into Mother Earth. Visualise releasing the energies or situations that no longer serve you.

  4. Visualisation: Picture cords connecting you to any pain or frustration. Imagine cutting these cords and surrounding yourself with a protective bubble of healing energy. Send what you’re releasing to the Earth to be transmuted.

  5. Close Your Ritual: Thank the elements, energies, and moon for their presence and support. End with gratitude and faith in the Universe.

Both full moon and new moon are immensely powerful, and their energies are complementary. The new moon is a time of potential and planning, while the full moon is about manifestation, celebration, and release. New moon is about beginnings, introspection, and planting seeds for future growth. Its energy is quieter, more subtle, and inward-focused. Full moon is about realising and celebrating the progress and letting go of what no longer serves your highest good. Together, they create a balanced cycle of growth and renewal. Without periods of darkness, light wouldn’t feel as vibrant or meaningful. By planning and resting in the dark, you can fully appreciate the growth and action that follow in the light.
